Levon Avagyan was born in 1990 in Yerevan, Armenia. In his home city he studied at the Yerevan State Conservatory named after Komitas with Prof. Vagharshak Harutyunyan. From 2010 he studies with Professor Milana Chernyavska at the University of Music and Performing Arts of Graz, Austria.
In 2017 Levon Avagyan won the First Prize, the audience Prize and several further special awards at the International Music Competition Maria Canals in Barcelona. This success was preceded by a remarkable musical career - Levon is the prize winner of more than ten international Competitions, including the 1st Prize at the International Piano Competition Forum per Tasti in Slovakia (2015), the 1st Prize at the International Piano Competition Roberta Gallinari in Italia (2015), the 2nd Prize at the XVIII International Piano Competition Santa Cecilia in Portugal (2016) and the 2nd Prize at the Isidor Bajic International Piano Competition in Serbia (2016).
Highlights among his recent and forthcoming solo engagements include performances with the Madrid Symphony Orchestra, National Orchestra of Catalonia, Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra, Granada Symphony Orchestra, Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, Porto Symphony Orchestra, Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, Slovak Sinfonietta, Imola Chamber Orchestra and Young Chamber Orchestra of Stuttgart. In 2018-2019 Levon will record two CD recordings offered by Naxos label.
Levon Avagyan regulary appears in Festivals such as Kissinger Sommer Festival in Germany, Marbella Piano Festival in Spain, Next Generation Classic Festival Bad Ragaz, Elisarion Piano Festival, Gstaad Menuhin Festival in Switzerland , Vaduz Classic Festival in Liechtenstein, Arsonore Festival and Alpenarte Festival in Austria.
Levon is a scholarship holder of Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe. He was also a member of Berlin's cultural project Kammerton, of the Spivakov Foundation in Russia and Foundation Clavarte in Germany. Since 2011 he has the privilege to be a member of the International Academy of Music in Fürstentum Liechtenstein. He regularly takes part in masterclasses of the Academy and has the opportunity to perform within the framework of the Academy Concerts. Moreover, Levon has participated in masterclasses with Arie Vardi, Dmitri Bashkirov, Pavel Gililov, Hung-Kuan Chen, Paul-Badura Skoda, Klaus Hellwig and Boris Berezovsky.
